What is Area Planning?

Area Planning is the process of strategic planning of primary and post-primary education provision to support the implementation of the Sustainable Schools Policy.

What is the aim of Area Planning?

To ensure that all primary and post-primary pupils have access to a broad and balanced curriculum that meets their educational needs in a school that is educationally and financially viable and sustainable. The best educational interests of children and young people is the focus of the Area Plan, in particular the need to raise standards through a network of sustainable schools.
