St Kevin’s College in Lisnaskea closed its Catholic Schools Week Celebrations with a visit to the school by The Bishop of Clogher Very Rev Bishop Larry Duffy.

St Kevin’s College in Lisnaskea closed its Catholic Schools Week Celebrations with a visit to the school by The Bishop of Clogher Very Rev Bishop Larry Duffy.

Mr Gary Kelly Principal and Chairman of St Kevin’s – Mr Thomas O’Reilly were delighted to welcome Bishop Larry Duffy to St Kevin’s College for Catholic Schools Week on the 27th January 2023.

Bishop Duffy Planted a Tree and Opened the New Catholic Schools Week Garden with 2 Year 8 Pupils. Bishop Duffy was warmly received at the Year 8 Catholic School Week Prayer Service where he was the lead celebrant. The Year 8 Pupils of St Kevin’s College Planted up the Catholic Schools Week Garden and pupils & Staff from the TD made the 6ft Wooden Cross. Bishop Duffy spoke to the pupils about the importance of resilience in family and school life. He also encouraged the pupils to think about vocations in the Church as a career option and encourage and pray for those who are following this path.

Bishop Duffy then went and had tea and coffee and food with the Year 14 pupils in St Kevin’s College. He spoke to Year 14 pupils for 45 minutes and the Year 14 A level Pupils reflected on his warm and friendly manner and his interests in their lives be that their sporting, school, family or social lives. The Bishop was very interested to hear about the University Pathways the Year 14 students had planned for next year.

The visit of the Bishop was part of the St Kevin’s Catholic School Week celebration which the RE Department also included – Mass for Grandparents, Wear Red or Pink Day and a Meditation Day.
